“Everyone is born with philosophy”, I graduated in Indian philosophy, and my philosophical background gave me a unique perspective to look at things differently. In philosophy we question “why”, we try to find the root cause of each substance. My philosophical background has broadened my mind to look at life with optimism.
Fashion design in Indian Wear has brought a new dimension towards design within me. India has a great culture and civilization, which is a beautiful blend of all the traditions and practices; she has been exposed to over the years. Hence Indian wear has a, great variety, cut and design which has an identity of its own. India has multiplicity in dressing and draping. I want to bring Indian design in new forms, cuts & drapes to a global level.
It’s said that creativity comes from the soil. A seed cannot grow on shinny marble, it has to fall on right soil where it can grow and a new life sprouts. I am from the soil of north India where river Ganges flow where The Taj Mahal exist.
My final collection was based on “The real treasures of India” inspired by “Lotus Temple” of the Bali religion, which is contemporary in its architecture; serene in its ambience I captured this specialty in my collection through unique silhouettes, use of colors and fabrics. This involved a great deal of pattern making garment construction techniques. My aim is to fall on right ground where I can learn more about design and do specialization in western women’s jackets. I think my internship experience will definitely help me in my further specialization, where I made a collection for INDIAN FASHION WEEK-2008. I designed various jackets, western dresses, capes and skirts including hats and matching accessories. This has increased my thirst for use of innovative silhouettes & technique. I hope I will get the right ground to nurture my designing skills and come up with a new concept ideology. I would love to study in University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN).
My one year of industry experience has enhanced my confidence, which has given me freedom to think and explore my ideas. Digital designing has given a new facet to look at design in more original forms. In a nut shell I can tell about my self “cogito urgo sum” i.e. I think therefore I exist. I want to pursue MA in fashion designing from UCLAN. My existence has no meaning if I don’t apply all the learning & experiences in my field of work. I hope the details given above are sufficient and I wait for a positive response from your side.
