UK Universities buying out private colleges or partnerning them!

The strict regulations imposed by the UKBA to curb Private Higher Education institutions in the UK has created a void in the market which various UK Universities have grabbed with both hands. Several universities are buying out private colleges or partnering private colleges and making them their extended campuses.

University of Wolverhampton has acquired a campus in London by the name of Buckingham College of London.

The new campus is offering top-up in Bsc health studies and BSc Computer Sc. The fees are 6,100 GBP. The University is accepting nursing diplomas and other health qualifications for admission to the top-up. The students will at the end of the programme have an opportunity to work in the UK. While this is not guaranteed the University has a placement company which has confirmed they will be able to place these students in the health industry including nursing homes.

The University also has an MBA available at 7000 GBP at the London campus. Admissions for the above mentioned programmes are open for Sept 2011 with more courses to follow for the Jan intake.

Kindly note CAS for this institution will be issued by the University and the students would be eligible for all benefits that students have at any UK university, such as part time work and Secure English Language Test non compulsory.

Similarly, Glyndŵr University has partnered with London School of Management and Science to form its London campus, the Glyndwr London School of Management and Science (LSMS).

The business college, which is based in South London, has up till now been offering programs validated by Glyndŵr University for more than 18 months.

Some of the courses which will be offered at this campus include MBA, BA (Hons) Business Management and BSc (Hons) Health Studies.

UK Universities seems to be choosing London as the favorite destination to open a campus in-order to attract the vast number of international students. Some other Universities in UK like Coventry University have also opened its London campus.
