Did your application to the most prestigious UK University got rejected? Was your dream for studying in your desired UK colleges got crushed due to this refusal? Are you confused as to why you didn’t get admission in the college of your choice even though you had all your papers in orders? Even though you might be the model student of your school but still you can’t get admission in the UK University or college of your choice.
There must be certain reasons behind it. One can understand a rejection when you know you might be falling short on one or the other account say academics, sports or anything else. BUT when a student have been acing his exams since his kindergarten days and has a well developed over all personality complete with passion for music and arts, the rejection might not come that easily to him.
In such a case as student will try to find out about the reason behind his application rejection by the UK University. Perhaps this example would throw some light on this matter.
For example, recently a well qualified student’s application got rejected by not one but many universities in UK. His head teacher took upon the matter in his own hands and sent a plea to all the colleges asking for the reason behind the rejection. Only one university college bothered to reply and it too stated that due to the rising competition for studying English many of the able students have been denied admission.
If one look at it from the university’s point of view then one would fine that even though the competition might be rising for every seat in their campuses, the seats are still limited and UK universities are actually fined if they admit more students than allowed!
Also there are different parameters followed in various UK universities. For instance, Edinburgh University gives additional weightage to Scottish students. On the other hand Glasgow University doesn’t follow any such additional weightage.
One more example can be taken here is that of University of College London which doesn’t accept A levels from an earlier year like other medical schools. One must get A grades in 3 subjects taken in the final year in one sitting to apply to this college. Other such parameters can be soft subjects, aptitude tests etc.
According to Professor Steve Smith, president of Universities UK and the vice-chancellor of the University of Exeter, more than 200,000 applications would be rejected this year. So far, the U CAS application count has increased by 14% till the end of May.
What would be the best way thus to ensure yourself a ticket to study in UK? Do a thorough research before applying to any college and go through their application procedures and admission criteria before finalizing them!
