Leeds Metropolitan University is a known education institution in UK with over 30,000 students, 3, 00,000 associate student including 4,000 international students, staff of 3,000 and 24 partner colleges. The university came into existence as a Leeds Mechanic Institute in 1824. More than a century later, Carnegie College of Physical Education, a famous former college at Leeds Met’s Headingley Campus was founded. In 1992, the institute became Leeds Metropolitan University and arose as a degree awarding education body.
The West Yorkshire based university boasts of 2 main campuses with the main city centre campus in Leeds and the second campus at Headingley. In 2006 a mini campus was established at Headingley Carnegie Stadium after the opening of Carnegie Stand. In addition there is also an upcoming Carnegie Pavilion. It would become the home for the university’s Leslie Silver International Faculty and provide base for its media, events management and hospitality courses.
