A comparative analysis of MBA Colleges in UK with those in India!
Why is there a sudden rush amongst the Indian student population to head towards UK for completing their MBA degrees? Is there a dearth of good colleges in India or the lure of foreign country pulls you towards its shores away from home? Well, this is clearly the reasoning put up by activists proclaiming the importance of studying in one’s own country. However, if one look at it objectively you will see that education abroad is merely a mean for achieving success in your prospective career. MBA from UK would be taken as a milestone in your professional life in the long run. Besides, there are many factors swinging in the favour of MBA Colleges in UK as compared to the Indian B schools or Management colleges.
When you decide to study MBA in India then the first and foremost problem that you would face is the type of course offered here. Mostly colleges in India including the reputed IIMs provide Post Graduation Diploma in Business Management or more commonly known as PGDBM. It is similar to the MBA courses taught in UK. However, it is still a diploma and not a full fledged degree course. You will find a variety of these courses with specialization in different management fields such as PGDFM & PGDGM , PGP in management, PGDM etc. However, UK Universities and Colleges like Swansea Metropolitan University, LSBF and CTL provide authentic MBA study programmes with specialisation in variety of fields such sports, human resource, marketing, finance, project management, hospitality, tourism, international hospitality & tourism etc.
One more question might be raging in your mind about the supposed high amount of finances required for Studying in UK. Well, interestingly if one goes by the figures and certain factors then you would be surprised to know that MBA in UK Colleges is actually quite cheap as compared to Indian B schools. MBA in an average middle B school in UK costs around £7000-£10000 +£5000 living expenses. However, the living expense part is just to show at the time of applying for your visa. A student can very well earn his living expenses with the help of part time working facilities for students. Herein, you get to work 20 hours a week during semester and full time in vacation. With £6 an hour, a student can live comfortably if not luxuriously in UK during the period of his MBA studies. If one makes the necessary conversions you would find that a MBA degree in just 5.5. lakh rupees [approx] is still a lot cheaper than 8-10,000 lakh PGDBM diploma offered at Indian colleges.
Another major factor which compels people to choose MBA in UK over that of Post Graduate Management Studies in India is the plethora of job opportunities that become available for you after the completion of your MBA from UK. In fact, you get a 2 year work permit after your course in UK along with your student visa under the new rules. This could mean global exposure on your very first job and good credentials over the years. You can very well come back to your home country after gaining experience in your respective field and directly get an entry into senior level jobs. Achieving this would require many hard years of turmoil if you stick to do your MBA in India. Thus, skipping directly to top level job at a renowned company or slugging it out for 10-12 years to reach the same level, the choice remains yours!
